a ten year old introverted child who longs for many of the basic things in life we take for granted: family, friends, acceptance, care, etc. She feels invisible and alone in both her home-life and society. She is a curious child who craves to learn more and unintentionally spouts random trivia (she picks up from abbo among other places) when she feels nervous. She is highly empathetic and kind, despite the difficult hand she’s been given in life. She selflessly places herself in awful situations if she feels it would help someone else. She is nearsighted and therefore squints a lot when having to observe far objects. She uses a trick where she turns her hand into a telescope to aid her. When seeing through her eyes we can get some insight into her thoughts by the doodles she places around the images she sees.
Zeinab is self-victimizing and pretends to care but with visible effort about the children left in her care. She pushes the children into following stereotypical social roles (girls cleaning, favours the boys over girls, etc.) and is intrinsically sexist without even realizing it.
Abbo an old man who seemingly time and hardships have broken, living a life of aimless wanderings, alcohol. He tolerates Adeela’s company because he too feels lonely and invisible in his old age, and enjoys having someone out there who eagerly wants to listen to what he has to say.
